Classes during COVID-19 pandemic: Class rules and guidance for parents & carers

(updated January 2021, but may be subject to change due to further government updates)

When you book a Tennis Champs course or taster, it is important that parents understand the guidance and rules below to ensure our classes are run as safely as possible. You must agree to all of the points below in order to attend a class.

Thank you so much for your help and support!

Prior to the class:

  • I will not attend the class if I or anyone in my household has any of the symptoms on the NHS symptom checker. This applies to the child’s family, support bubble and the carer attending with the child. I will inform Caroline straight away if you have symptoms and seek to get a COVID-19 test immediately and inform Caroline of the results.
  • As a parent, I will undertake COVID-19 lateral flow test prior to attending class if possible. Children will not need to be tested unless you wish them to.
  • There should be only 1 adult attending with each child. Siblings may attend, but please flag this to Caroline before attending.
  • I will ensure that my child has visited the toilet at home prior to coming to the class to avoid any unnecessary trips to the toilets.
  • At the start of the first lesson, I will arrive 5 minutes early to allow for a health and safety briefing. Late arrivals will not be admitted so please arrive on time.
  • I will not be permitted to enter the building prior to 5 minutes before the class. I will queue outside the venue.
  • The wearing of a face covering has been reintroduced this term, and I will apply hand sanitiser to me and my child prior to entering the building and at points when prompted by the coach. Hand sanitiser will also be available outside the entrance of all venues if forgotten.
  • Windows will be open at the venue to aid air circulation, in all weathers, so I should bring a warm layer.
  • I will bring a bottle of water for my child which will not be shared with any other children.
  • Caroline will continue to take registers for track and trace purposes and will complete risk assessments for each venue.

During the class:

  • Only one adult is able to attend with each child.
  • My child & I will be assigned a home space and my child must be seated on it, at the start of the class and return to it between each activity. Children may be asked to sit together to listen to detailed instructions.
  • I am welcome to take a time-out outdoors at any time and am welcome to return when ready via the entry door.
  • Classes will no longer be socially distanced however parents will need to be mindful of checking their surroundings to keep as much distance as possible. Spots will be placed by the coach for this reason and should not be moved without the coach’s approval.
  • I will need to wear my face mask for the duration of the class and when arriving and exiting.
  • Only 1 toilet at each venue will be open for use. I will wash both my and the child’s hands after with soap and running water. Only 1 family is allowed in each toilet room at a time.

At the end of the class:

  • I will leave as promptly as possible via the exit door.
  • Any payments will be taken via contactless card payment and an electronic receipt can be requested.
  • All equipment will be sanitised between classes.
