Blog 6: So sad to see our graduates leave…. But on to the next tennis adventure…

The end of the summer term is a time for celebration for all the amazing progress the children have made over the course of the year. However, for me the pride I feel for their phenomenal progress it is tinged with a little bit of sadness as I say goodbye to some Champs who have been with me from a very long time.

Let me introduce you to Sam, Olivia, Anaya, Lizzie, Stacey and Lily. They have all been with me for a few years and some of them since they were tiny tots, aged 2. They are now aged 5-7 and about to embark on their next tennis journey at clubs and schools around Hertfordshire!

I asked some of their parents what made them stick with my classes for so long. A lot of them say that it was just as important for them, as grown-ups, to have fun as the children. Lizzie’s Dad says “It was always fun just watching the children enjoy themselves and playing with the other children” and Sam’s parents mentions the great variety of different activities and competitions whilst instilling the core tennis skills. Stacey’s mum says she and her husband really enjoyed the way the classes were structured and planned “Learning tennis was made fun – with interesting warm ups and games, as well as parent involvement.” She says.

Yes, fun is so important! But there’s also the progress that the children make each with not only their tennis skills, but also their confidence. “Stacey gained so much from attending Caroline’s classes…” says her mum “…both in terms of her tennis skills and in the broader/development sense. She made friends, improved her listening skills, became more disciplined and mature.” Lizzie’s Dad really noticed that “Lizzie clearly developed hand eye coordination over her time attending” and Lily’s Dad says “Lily has progressed really well – she is now capable of having small rallies and has a ferocious backhand!”

So to all of the children that are leaving me this term, I wish you all the best in your journey. You have all been amazing and will all go along way with your tennis and in life!
