BLOG 3: The end of a brilliant albeit interrupted Autumn term!

Well, what a term! We all got through it together and I am so grateful to all the parents, carers and children for all your support and for following the new guidelines.

It was definitely different for me this term. I often joked that I was not only a coach, but also a health consultant and a cleaner!

At the start of the term I had to find 2 new venues at short notice as they confirmed to me they would not be reopening.

We now have 2 wonderful new venues at Park Street Village Hall and St. Bernadettes RC School and I thank them for being so helpful and accomodating at this difficult time.

Running a COVID-secure business is certainly no walk in the park. Here are some of the extra precautions I had to put in place this term:

The list goes on… and all this in addition to keeping on top of the latest government and LTA guidance, which is never the clearest at the best of times!

However, the most important thing was making sure all the children and their parents were happy, having loads of fun and feeling safe and well looked after.

We managed to cover a lot of our syllabus for this term, with focus on forehands, backhands, seves and volleys. All of the children soaked up these skills like sponges! We even managed our favourite balloon tennis week!

Of course, we had an impromptued 4 week break during the lockdown, but that didn’t stop us finishing the term in style! After lockdown, it was as if the children had never been away. Our christmas extravaganza was so much fun, with pretend snowball games, knocking down snowmen and a christmas treasure hunt.

And at the end of it all was the medal and certificate ceremony! Although I couldn’t do a high-five with the children, it was so brilliant to see all their smiles and excitement! Here are some photos of all the children looking proud with their medals and certificates…

I wish you all a very healthy and happy Christmas break, Roll on 2021!
